Kourion. Omodos.

Our path runs in the direction of the ancient city of Kourion, located on a cliff 70 meters high, which was one of the city-states of the island of Cyprus, founded in 1200 BC. The foundations of houses and public baths with mosaic floors, a necropolis and other structures have been preserved in the city. But the most impressive building is the ancient amphitheater with 2,000 seats, which to this day hosts musical and theatrical performances.

Then we will head to the famous village of Omodos, where old stone buildings with carved wooden balconies, lush greenery of orchards and coolness will appear before our eyes. The village is located at an altitude of about 900 meters above sea level and attracts tourists and locals with its color.

The village is known for the monastery of the Holy Cross, founded by St. Helena at the beginning of the 4th century.

In the village of Omodos, a monastery was founded, in which the relics brought by St. Helena were kept: a particle of the Life-Giving Cross and a particle of the Bond of Christ - a rope with which Christ's hands were tied when following him to Golgotha.

The church of the Holy Cross is open for parishioners. Several other important relics are kept in the temple, among them the head of the Apostle Philip in a special ark, transferred from the temple of the village of Arsos during the Ottoman rule.

This foothill village is also famous for its winemakers! On the picturesque slopes, the vine is cultivated, which gives the best varieties of grapes, and local winemakers produce excellent wines using ancient traditional recipes. You will have the opportunity to get acquainted with the production technology of Cypriot wines and taste them. You will have a short walk along the streets of the village, where you can buy local souvenirs and sweets. Fine silver handicrafts and Cypriot lace are distinguished by the quality and variation of ornaments.

Note: Lunch and entrance tickets are not included in the price of the tour.
