Old neighborhoods

On this day we will visit Larnaca, formerly called Kition, one of the oldest and the third largest city on the island. On the way, we will pass through the village of Kiti, where one of the most important shrines of Cyprus is located - the Angelokhtisti Temple in honor of the Most Holy Theotokos, which means “built by angels”. According to legend, the temple was erected by angels on this site in just a few days. In the temple, a unique mosaic in the vault of the altar apse, dating from the second half of the 6th century, pleases the eye. This is one of the seven early Christian mosaics in the world that have survived to this day in their original form.

Further, our path runs through Salt Lake, a unique corner of nature, where pink flamingos fly every year.

In Larnaca, we will visit one of the first Christian churches - the Church of St. Lazarus, you will learn the history of the creation of the temple and will be able to venerate the relics of the saint. In the temple, your imagination will be amazed by the magnificent iconoclastic, framed by 120 icons, and its unique architecture.

Also, if you wish, you can taste the best culinary masterpiece of local cuisine - fish meze in one of the traditional colorful taverns.

Then you will have free time to get to know the old town and you can truly enjoy a walk along the famous Finikoudes palm alley, where locals enjoy their free time. Walking along the old quarters, you can taste aromatic Cypriot coffee.
